Summary: |
This book was a great book because the way the author combined different stories and it all just make a lot of sense on how slavery and when other cultures influenced African Americans. I believe this is in the 18th century. This book brings a good example of how families were back then and how women's were "pulled" over with the whites. The tone of this book was how much strength was put into it. I learned to stay track of every chapter in order to continue with the next one. Taking a lot of notes is very important because it guided me. The critical lens that I read this book was through feminism because of how much women had to do for men, and men wouldn't do it because of power.
